The Yukon is home to dozens of annual and special sport events that bring athletes, organizations, and spectators from across Canada and all over the world to our incredible territory.

  • Lost in Paradise - FIS Para Snowboard World Cup

    March 28-29, 2024

    The very first event of its kind to be hosted in the Yukon, the Banked Slalom Event is the final race of the season in Canada Snowboard’s “Shred the North” World Cup series.

  • Nordiq Canada Annual General Meeting

    June 6-9, 2024

    Cross Country Yukon is pleased to host Nordiq Canada’s 2024 AGM in Whitehorse, highlighting our territory’s key contributions to the sport at the national level.

Annual Events

  • Dustball

    For over four decades, this annual Slo-Pitch tournament has welcomed hundreds of participants to Whitehorse for four enormous days of competition.

  • Klondike Road Relay

    The largest sport tourism event in the Yukon, the KRR brings hundreds of participants from across Canada, USA, and the world each year.

  • Kluane-Chilkat International Bike Relay

    The KCIBR attracts thousands of cyclists who race between Haines Junction, YT and Haines, Alaska.

  • Lights Out Yukon Invitational Basketball Tournament

    Every year, teams from across BC, Alberta, Alaska, and the North compete against the Yukon.

  • Mt. Sima Aurora Cup

    Skiers from all over the world compete in Slalom and Giant Slalom events in this FIS race held at Mt. Sima in Whitehorse.

  • Northern Cup

    The Yukon’s biggest tennis tournament, this annual event welcomes racqueteers from across the country.

  • Raven 50 Mile Ultra & Relay

    The ultimate test of endurance, this annual ultra marathon brings hundreds of long-distance runners to the Yukon.

  • Wham! Bam! Solstice Slam!

    Welcoming roller derby teams and athletes from BC, Alaska, ad Alberta, this is the biggest derby event in the Yukon!

  • Yukon Canada Cup

    This annual event welcomes freestyle ski athletes to the Yukon for Slopestyle and Big Air competitions and is the first stop on the Canada Cup Series.

  • Yukon Quest

    The world’s toughest sled dog race is the ultimate test of endurance and skill for the world’s greatest mushers.

  • Yukon River Quest

    The Yukon River Quest or “Race to the Midnight Sun”, travels 715 kilometres down the Yukon River from Whitehorse to Dawson City.

  • Yukon River Trail Marathon

    Taking advantag of the incredible trail networks along the Yukon river, racers experience the rugged beauty of the Yukon.

  • Lost in Paradise FIS Para Snowboard World Cup

    2024

    The very first event of its kind to be hosted in the Yukon, this was the final race of Canada Snowboard’s “Shred the North” World Cup series.

  • Canadian XCM MTB Championships

    2023

    Named Cycling Canada’s 2023 Canadian Championship of the Year, this event welcomed Canada’s best mountain bikers to the Yukon to compete for titles and the Maple Leaf jersey.

  • Softball World Championships

    2012, 2016, 2017

    Whitehorse has welcomed hundreds of athletes, officials, and spectators for three separate World Championships: Women’s in 2012, Junior Men’s in 2016, and Men’s in 2017.

Major Games

  • Canada Winter Games

    2007

    The first Canada Games ever held North of 60, Whitehorse welcomed nearly 4500 athletes, coaches, and mission staff from every province and territory in Canada.

  • Arctic Winter Games

    1972, 1980, 1986, 1992, 2000, 2012, 2020*, 2026

    Whitehorse has hosted the Arctic Winter Games six times, and will be playing host to the games once again in 2026.

    *The 2020 Games were unfortunately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
