Title Coordinator: Sport Tourism
Reports To: Executive Director, Sport Yukon
Nature of Work: Full Time
Remuneration: $65,000 - $75,000
Start Date: October 3, 2022


Sport Yukon, the face and voice of sport in the Yukon, supports inclusion, access, and diversity
through the development of sport and recreation throughout the Territory. We are the hub of
a vibrant, healthy, engaged community of sport organizations that are continuously growing
and improving. Communication and promotion of sport and recreation throughout Yukon is at
the heart of what we do.

This position works with territorial sport organizations, national sport organizations, business
and partner agencies, and Sport Yukon member organizations to create opportunities to host
sporting events in Yukon and to establish Yukon as a Sport Tourism destination. It also works
closely with Sport Yukon and Tourism Yukon to generate ideas, concepts and plans that link
local, national and international sporting agencies and businesses and leads to the hosting of
events in the Yukon.

This position will:

• Promote Sport Yukon and Yukon as a sport tourism destination with national and international
sport organizations, businesses and relevant organizations.
• Work with member organizations, partner agencies and Sport Yukon staff to generate ideas and concepts for promotion.
• Work on securing sport events to be hosted in the Yukon, and assist host organizations with the bidding and development of such events
• Develop and maintain a high profile, dynamic and active relationship with local, national and international sport organizations and businesses.
• Work with the Marketing, Communications and Media Coordinator to establish and maintain a social media presence that promotes Sport Yukon as a Sport Tourism destination
• Work with the Marketing, Communications and Media Coordinator to develop a variety of communication products that promote Sport Yukon and the capabilities of its member agencies, and partners and local businesses to host Sport Tourism and major sporting events.
• Work as a part of the Sport Yukon team on projects, events, and administration.


The incumbent will require:

• Strong marketing, promotion and exceptional interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of sport and diversity in sport
• Experience and understanding of hosting major sporting events/tourism events
• Experience and/or understanding of the tourism field
• Desire and ability to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals and agencies
across Yukon, nationally and internationally
• Highly developed ability to lead using influence
• Desire to work in a small, vibrant ever-changing not-for-profit organization
• Strong work ethic and an energetic and enthusiastic approach to work.
These skills are normally gained through some of these areas:
• Education /experience in sport promotion and marketing
• Education/experience in tourism
• Education in sport management/administration
• Education and experience in communications, media / public relations, journalism
combined with a knowledge and interest in sport and recreation
• Education and experience in strategy development and grant applications
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Experience leading and implementing projects.
• Volunteer management

provide consistent support to member agencies. It is also a flexible and vibrant workplace that
adapts to meet the needs of clients as required outside of regular hours.
