Joe Mason was inducted to the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as an athlete and coach in boxing.

In 1970, Joe began his successful boxing career under coach Art Fry. He entered several events including the 1975 and 1976 Northwestern Canadian Boxing Championships (silver, gold), 1977 Canadian National Boxing Championships (bronze), 1980 Fraser Valley Native Championships (champion), 1980 and 1981 Palmer Boxing Tournament (champion), 1981 Mission B.C. (champion), and the 1981 and 1982 B.C. Golden Gloves (sr. winner, sr. runner-up). Joe also coached at the Dawson Boxing Club from 1980 to 1984.

Joe was the Yukon Amateur Boxing Champion (1970, 1971, 1973, 1978, 1984), Yukon Amateur Boxing Athlete of the Year (1977, 1980, 1981, 1983) and received the Tom Long Bow Medal (1974, 1980, 1982) and the Government Award of Excellence (1981, 1983).
