Win Shandro was inducted to the Hall of Fame for her contributions as
an organizer and administrator of women's curling in the Yukon.
Win's passion for curling began in the Prairies. When she arrived
in the Yukon she organized women curlers into the Ladies Curling
Association and served as the first president. She also
helped in writing the first constitution and bylaws that have been
the foundation of the association since that time. Win saw a need
for the Yukon to align with a provincial organization so that they
could compete at the national level. B.C. accepted Yukon into their
association.
Win's efforts were rewarded with an honorary life membership to the
Yukon Curling Association and in 1983 she received the Outstanding
Service to Curling award from the Canadian Curling Association.
