HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE
Cliff and Bessie Lawrence, 1981.

Cliff and Bessie Lawrence were inducted to the Hall of Fame as builders and supporters of amateur sport in the Yukon.

Beginning in the early 1950s Cliff and Bessie were active in community recreation projects in Destruction Bay Curling Club, the Beaver Creek and Teslin skating rinks and the Teslin ball diamond. They also organized sport days for children living along the North Highway and were prime movers in the establishment of junior curling in Beaver Creek and Teslin, instilling the love and art of the game in dozens of youngsters.

They were generous with their time and spent hundreds of hours teaching, coaching, travelling, inspiring and perhaps most of all, sharing their passion and enthusiasm for all sports.

Cliff and Bessie's support was unwavering and they rarely failed to send encouragement and greetings to athletes competing outside of the Yukon. Bessie passed away in April 1986.
