Judy Saunders was inducted to the Hall of Fame for her contribution as
a figure skating coach and administrator. She was also very involved with
the Yukon Sports Federation (now Sport Yukon) and T.E.S.T. (Territorial
Experimental Ski Training).
Judy arrived in the Yukon in 1966, eager to get involved in figure skating.
With some previous experience under her belt, she began by volunteering
as an assistant coach for the Whitehorse Figure Skating Club. Judy spent
many hours organizing ice shows and assisting with the administration
of the club. From 1977 to 1981 Judy was the President of Skate Yukon and
during her term she chaired a committee that organized the Cariboo North
Central Championships in Whitehorse. She also arranged for world class
skater, Nina Kioten, to coach at the club from 1979-81.
Judy also worked tirelessly for the T.E.S.T. program and the Yukon
Sports Federation.
