Dorreene Wahl was inducted to the Hall of Fame as a builder of curling.
When Dorreene arrived in the Yukon in 1950 she became involved in curling.
She was an active member of the Whitehorse Curling Club in 1952 and
served on many committees. She also served as the president of the
Whitehorse Ladies Curling Club and represented the Yukon at the
Canadian AGM that discussed the entry of Yukon/NWT as a member. Not
only was Dorreene an acitve club member but she was extremely active
at the provincial and territorial level. From 1964 to 1971 she served
on the B.C. Ladies Curling Association board (Yukon was a member
of that association) in the capacity of President. When the Yukon/NWT
Ladies Curling League was established, Dorreene became the Yukon
Zone Convener, Vice President and worked on many different committees.
Dorreene curled on teams that were champions of the Yukon Ladies
Championships (1963, 1969), Yukon.NWT Ladies Championships (1977-81,
1983) and Arctic Winter Games (1970, 1974, 1976). She also
played at the Canadian Sr. Ladies Championships in 1977, 1979, 1980,
1981, and 1983.
