Dave Stockdale was inducted to the Hall of Fame for his contribution
to the sports of table tennis and soccer.
In 1970 Dave began his involvement with table tennis by coaching
a group of kids for Arctic Winter Games. In 1972 he was the
president of the Yukon Table Tennis Association and obtained national
affiliation and became a director of the Canadian Table Tennis
Association. In 1974 Dave organized the Canadian National Championships
held in Whitehorse and was the Chair for that event. He coached
many tournaments including the Junior and Senior Nationals,
Canada Winter Games and Arctic Winter Games.
Dave was also very active in the soccer association. He began
his soccer involvement in 1970 as a coach and he later became a
referee. He served for many years on the executive as President
as well as a variety of other positions. He also organized
several tournaments, soccer schools, coaching clinics and
referee clinics. In recognition of his contributions, Dave
was awarded the Health and Human Resources award for youth services
and 1982 Yukon Coach of the Year.
At the time of Dave's induction to the Hall of Fame he was still
very active with the soccer associations.
